Our Peppermint & Eucalyptus lotion candle is a great choice year-round, but especially during the winter season, for multiple reasons.

We’ve all heard of Peppermint… it’s like the pumpkin spice of the winter… it’s in everything this time of year. But did you know that Peppermint oil has been used for over 200 years in ancient Rome and Egypt?? Peppermint oil is derived from the leaves of the Peppermint plant (which is a hybrid of the water mint & spearmint plants). Peppermint oil has been found to exhibit antiviral, antimicrobial, antifungal, antioxidant, analgesic, radioprotective and antiedema properties. Sounds like a pretty versatile and beneficial oil to me. It also smells like Christmas.

Peppermint is used as a dietary supplement for Irritable Bowel Syndrome, colds and headaches. It is used topically (on the skin) for headaches, muscle aches, itching and as an insect repellent. The aroma of peppermint has been shown to improve memory and increase alertness. Peppermint oil is used to help manage stress and treat nervous disorders and mental fatigue. It is suggested to have an energizing effect that is similar to psychostimulants.  Mixing peppermint oil into massage oils, shampoos, body washes and lotions gives these products antiseptic and antimicrobial properties and helps to cool the skin.

Like Peppermint, Eucalyptus essential oil has numerous benefits. The Eucalyptus tree is native to Australia, but is now grown all over the world. The oil is derived from the leaves, which are dried, then crushed and distilled to extract the essential oil.

Eucalyptus oil is widely known for its anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties, which make it an extremely useful essential oil during the cold and flu season. Creative Energy’s Peppermint & Eucalyptus lotion candle would make for a great alternative to a chest rub normally bought at your local pharmacy. You can rub the warm lotion on your chest to help with congestion and cough. Eucalyptus oil is also very effective in reducing a fever due to its anti-inflammatory properties and as a vasodilator. It is widely known as the “fever oil.” The lotion from our P&E candle can be used on the bottoms of the feet, temples and on the back of the neck as a fever rub. Use every 15-2o minutes until temperature goes down.

Finally, Eucalyptus is similar to Peppermint, in that is a natural picker upper – when you just need a little extra boost from a long, tiring day… or the morning after a long, fun-filled night.
