Today we are bringing you a few simple actions to take to care for your candle, straight from our office.
1. Burn your candle long enough to let the top layer of wax melt.
By burning your candle until the wax is uniformly melted on top, you prevent “tunneling.” Tunneling occurs when only the center of a candle’s wax melts, leaving hard wax around the edges each time you burn it. This wastes wax and diminishes the candle’s burn time significantly. This is especially important to do during the first time you light your candle.
A tunneling candle looks like this:
